The tested games include: Wild escort 2, cyberpunk 2077, brothers of the four seas: the final version, horizon: Dawn, battlefield 5, extreme speed: Horizon 4, Kingdom of heaven: salvation and Assassin’s Creed: the hall of souls, all of which use 4K (2160p) resolution and the highest image quality.
The test uses i9 10900k, frequency 3.7GHz, the results show that the 2080ti second-hand mine card is 10% slower than the new 2080ti on average. “Extreme speed: Horizon 4” is an exception, in which the mine card is 20% slower than the new card and the frame number drops to 11. A large number of tests show that any long-term mining graphics card will reduce its game performance.
The main reasons for the decline of game performance are GPU frequency and temperature. The frequency of the mine card is actually reduced by 100MHz because the temperature of the mine card is 14-16c higher than that of the new 2080 Ti, which hinders the overall performance.
The correlation between temperature and GPU boost frequency decrease is based on NVIDIA’s GPU boost 4.0 algorithm, which is very sensitive to GPU temperature.
In addition, serious ash deposition under the radiator or fan will also greatly affect the heat dissipation performance of the graphics card. Therefore, it is better to re apply silicone grease on the graphics card after several years of use, because the silicone grease will dry after a long time, which will affect the heat dissipation and overall performance of GPU, especially for mine cards.
