The president of boss direct employment research institute Chang Meng pointed out that a large number of studies show that there is no difference in professional ability between women and men, and the performance of work is more stable. But in the past few years, the salary level of women has been fluctuating in 80% of the male, which has great significance for the development of enterprises and society, to improve the professional dignity and equality of employment of women, to create more opportunities for women to promote and to give full play to the value of women’s human capital.
The report shows that the main factors that affect the salary level of men and women are positions (73.4), working experience (54.7) and industry (18.3). The education years are still the only factors that can reduce the salary difference between men and women. The salary difference of the position mainly comes from the development characteristics of different positions and the low proportion of women in management posts. The difference of work experience is due to the effect of “glass ceiling”.
At the same time, the gender pay difference of low education group is also increasing. In the past, the salary difference between men and women will increase with the working years and education level. In 2020, the industries with high proportion of female practitioners in life service industry and tourism industry are greatly affected by the epidemic. Due to the limitations of physical strength and employers’ preference, the affected women in these industries are difficult to enter the fields of takeout, express delivery and online contract car as quickly as men, thus further pulling apart the difference between men and women’s salary.
The report states that since 2010, the proportion of women in higher education has exceeded that of men, and that this trend will continue in the future. In the first two months of 2021, the proportion of active female job seekers with bachelor degree or above has reached 41.9, 6.7 percentage points higher than that of men.
“In the future, the female in the workplace will present the double ‘high \’ characteristics of high education and high quality”. Chang Meng, Dean of boss direct employment research institute, believes that the more attractive it is to women in industries with more female career choices and equal salary and environment, as the information barrier between market position and talent supply is gradually broken.
Taking Internet it and electronic communication industries as an example, the proportion of female practitioners in these industries has increased, while the average female salary growth is also the highest, reaching 4.0 and 2.7 respectively. The report shows that in 2020, the average expected salary for women in the automated test engineer positions is 18.8 higher than that of men. Although the proportion of women in technical posts is only
17.9, however, the proportion of women expected to develop in the field of digital technology is more than 25 among the less than one year working experience, current students and interns. Among the new workers in the workplace, the average expected salary of women is only lower than that of men
Chang Meng said that with the increasing number of women studying stem majors (Science, technology, engineering, Mathematics), digital technology posts are expected to become the front position for women to break the occupational barriers and income gap.
