Before the game will be released next month, a new feature article on the Playstation blog and related Trailer all emphasize the plot of the game, which is a new field for developers.
“The goal of journal is to tell a mysterious, layered, unforgettable story – like our explosive action play and roguelike twists and turns – that players can discover, replay and rethink every time they play,” explains plot designer Greg Louden.
Then he continued to analyze housemarque’s narrative philosophy, that is, around the idea of “rationalization, deepening and integration” of plot narration and game play.
In Louden’s article, there are four different parts to explain the different aspects of the game plot: the background story of the protagonist Selene; how the world of journal changes with the passage of time, and how to tell different stories of different races through the “heterogeneous archives”.
